Akona Concepts were engaged by Story Contracting under an NEC3 contract to deliver the full Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) scope for the River Trent Viaduct project. This formed part of the wider North West & Central CP7 civil engineering and building works, where Story Contracting has been appointed by Network Rail.
Akona provided a full turnkey service, including OLE Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) for Construction, procurement of materials, supply of OLE 3–5 specialist labour, engineering assurance, and Network Rail handback. Our specialist team delivered comprehensive OLE design surveys, foundation assurance, material procurement, structure replacement, and OLE adjustments and bonding to support the associated track renewal works.

The task
The complete replacement of an OLE structure, followed by all the necessary adjustments and bonding, to support the track renewal associated with the River Trent Saddle and Waterproofing project.
